Rachel has a good life in Bethlehem with her farmer husband, their toddler and another baby on the way. When some new neighbors, who have a newborn baby, move into the house across the street, Rachel and her family find much in common and become friends. Together they experience the joy as Rachel's second son is born. But one night the family disappears and a few days later tragedy comes upon Bethlehem.

The death of her two babies at the hand of Herod's soldiers plunges Rachel into a state of shock. As soon as her mother hears about the terrible event, she comes to help, but soon realizes that as long as Rachel and her husband stay in Bethlehem, they will never be able to return to a normal life.

A move back to Rachel's birthplace, Bethany, allows healing to take place and the couple begin a new family. Still questions from the past haunt her and unexpected events not only thrust her into another tragedy, but provide satisfying answers to her most important question.

Biblically-based, "From Mourning Into Gladness", tells the story of the resilience of the human spirit in the face of great loss, and the hope God gives us when we journey from darkness into life-giving light.
