The plot and pacing of the novel is impeccable and will have you turning page after page to see how it resolves. The two central characters, Charles Beau and Jermaine Aero, are characterized in their own distinct way, grabbing the reader's sympathy immediately. As a period piece set in 1911 America, the description of that time period was well researched and made you feel like you had gone back in time. The Kriener's writing is exactly what you would hope for in a thriller: taut, fast-paced, and expertly building up the suspense. As the novel unfolds, the reader experiences a range of emotion: curiosity, terror, humor, empathy, but above all, satisfaction. The novel's tale stays with you long after you've closed the book.I cannot recommend this novel enough to those who have a love for mystery thrillers. Very well-worth the buy and a joy to read.
